December 14, 2015 Woman screaming! :-D

Hey Fam whats up! This week has been super fun as always! I dont have much time to write this because we got to bike super far as always to go to a zone activity to play some tennis and basketball. Well we taught a lot of families this week which was super fun its just that none of them really have the desire to go to church sadly. The Latins here love the missionaries and our lessons just not going to church which is a problem haha. But since we have been teaching so much my spanish has gotten way better!

So yesterday we found a woman from Colombia who has a crazy story! We decided to go to an area where like no missionaries have never gone because it is really dangerous but we didnt really care and we needed to find some people haha. But when we were biking down the road she came out and was like screaming at us to come back. We went back and she was like crying because of us and she said she hadnt seen us for 30 years since she moved here from Colombia! She showed us this book of mormon that the missionaries in colombia 30 years ago it was pretty cool. Anyways she wants us to come by as much as possible and she really wants to get baptized so hopefully we can do that.

Well not many crazy things happened this week. We taught this girl from Russia who was super cute and barley spoke any english which was super awesome and she taught us some Russian. Privet! - Hello! Paka! - Bye! We also found a family from Brazil of 7 with 4 daughters and 1 son they are super cool but they are just visiting so we cant really work with them. They only spoke portuguese but we could understand them and they could understand our spanish so it actually went alot better than expected haha. Spanish and Portuguese are pretty similar to be honest. There are alot of Portuguese speaking people here and it is super fun talking with them and I get to learn a bit Portuguese on the way.

Well everything is going good and the work is awesome! No Baptisms this week sadly but hopefully we can get a few before Christmas! We still dont know what we are doing for the skype thing but next monday I will let you guys know for sure! Thanks for all the pics and your guys emails! Hasta la proxima semana!

New companion- Elder Wolfe and SNOW in Miami!

December 7, 2015 Felt like Alma and Ipad!

Hello once again fam! Thanks for all your emails really appreciate it! Sounds like you guys had a pretty fun week in provo and at AGT! That would be really cool if Jenna gets the chance to perform in front of the judges! Yeah it is weird not having a Christmas tree in the house but it is alright because this week we went to this super awesome Christmas party in Miami where they had a band and they lit up a super big tree it was cool and they had fake snow falling from the sky which was pretty funny haha. Well that is really sad with what happened with Austen. A super awesome Colombian family in our ward just had their mom die and we attended her funeral last week and it was quite sad. She was only in her 40's and she was super active and fit but she just had a sudden heart attack and died. The family took it quite hard and were really sad so we actually went to their house and shared a short message and shared a video called El es la dadiva with them and then went to the Christmas party in Miami with them and it was super fun!

But yeah this week has been a blast! another one of our investigators got baptized this saturday! Her name is Whitley and shes 22 years old and shes from the Bahamas and her older brother was a member so it was alot easier to teach her! Her brother performed the baptism and it was his first time doing a baptism and he loved it so much! I still havent got a chance to actually do a baptism because most of the people that we have taught have had friends or family in the church but we are baptizing a couple people this week and I hope they choose the missionaries to do it! haha but yeah anyway I got to give the Holy Ghost to Whitley which was pretty cool! I could really feel the spirit during it it was super cool.

The Christmas devotional was super awesome! Our investigators really loved it and like the majority of people there were nonmembers so after we stayed after and talked with all of them for like 2 hours answering question after question about prophets. I felt like Alma just standing infront of a bunch of people preaching the gospel except it was all in spanish haha. My spanish isnt perfect but I can understand the people so much easier now its amazing. I cant wait to go back to Utah and talk to all the spanish people!

So something cool that happened this week was that I got an Ipad! haha This family from Peru of Less Actives that we found and rescued bought me an Ipad and gave my comp only a tie haha. I cant use it though until after my mission though which sucks but its still pretty cool to have haha.

Well thanks for everything fam! I hope you guys have an awesome Christmas and I will let you know next week what I am doing with the skype thing this Christmas I still have no idea haha. It will be super cool though and I will try and send you guys something for christmas! Well have fun fam I gtg play some soccer!

THANKSGIVING DINNER

NOVEMBER 30, 2015 THANKSGIVING WEEK!

Hey family whats up! It seems like you guys had an awesome thanksgiving week and that Dad had a super fun birthday! Thanks for all the stuff you guys sent me! Really the only thing I am going to use is the Butt Rubb but thanks for everything else I guess haha. Something I actually need tho are some gray golf pants! The only pants I have are suit pants and I can only dry clean them. I tried to put one pair in the washer on its slowest setting and now its destroyed haha. So I only got 3 pairs of pants now that can only be dry cleaned so some gray oakley golf pants would be nice especially for the super hot weather and all the rain! Well My week has been pretty good too, we had an awesome thanksgiving dinner with a brazilian family I will send you guys some pics. But It honestly feels alot like christmas here! Basically every house has lights up and we just saw a christmas parade there is alot of christmas spirit down here!

Well my new companion is Elder Wolfe and he is super awesome! Hes from Colorado and his spanish is suuuper good and he has been helping me a ton with my spanish. He was so excited to get called into my area because he said it is one of the few areas where the only language is spanish so now he finally gets to show off his spanish. But yeah we have been working really well together and all my investigators love him! We did have a baptism last week! His name was Arturo and hes from Spain and hes a super humble guy who lives in a tent in the woods. I didnt do the baptism but I did find him and teach him with Elder Gamez. He got baptized by a member who always drove him to church and gave him clothes to wear to church.

We are still teaching the family from El Salvador but they just dont have the time to go to church so if they dont go to church next week we will focus on some other families. We do have 2 baptisms planned for the 12 though of Alejandra(17) and Bryant(15). They have both come to church around 10 weeks in a row now and we have been teaching them forever its just they cant get their parents permission but we will get their parents permission this week.

Nothing to crazy happened this week except for getting a new companion but I really like Elder Wolfe so it aint a problem. I will talk to you guys next week and hopefully some cool stuff happens this week! Sorry for the short email but since we have to bike to get groceries we have like no time to email haha but I might be able to get on a bit later today hopefully. But I will send you guys some super cool pics of thanksgiving and we are playing soccer for P-Day today so that should be fun. Well have a great week family! Florida is still boss as ever!

NOVEMBER 16, 2015 -MET A LOT OF COOL FAMILIES AND FLOODED ROADS AND ANOTHER HELMET STOLEN

Hey whats up fam!! Thanks for all the stuff you sent me I really appreciate it! It seems that the Spencer household is still going strong without me there! That new car looks super dope I cant wait to see it when I get back! And it is fine you sold that red car the speakers didnt work that well so I couldnt blast my music. Music aint really that big of a problem here since everybody here parties all day and night so we hear music nonstop haha. But the weather is starting to get alot worse here! We have been getting dumped on all day for the past few days and alot of roads we cant bike on because they are flooded! But we push through it and people are more nice to us when they see us soaked in rain so we get alot of food during rainy days haha. Hows the weather in Utah right now? I heard it snowed already thats crazy! I wont see snow for awhile here haha. But its not that big of deal, I kinduv like the warm rain and sunshine all the time. That's really cool that your going to Mexico! I didn't like Mexico City and I would never go back there but maybe Cancun is different haha.

Well we met alot of cool families this week! We found a Ukrainian family and they are super cool and they told us about all the bad stuff happening over there and that is why they left to come here to Miami. We had to give that family to the english speaking missionaries because we can only speak spanish but the family barely speaks any english because they got here only a few months ago! We are still teaching the basketball crazed family from El Salvador but they didn't like church too much because a speaker talked about how only humble people can go to heaven and the father took it as if only the poor can go to heaven and he is reeeeeeallly wealthy so it offended him but we tried our best to explain what humble actually is to him. He is still on the edge of baptism but I am confident that his family will get baptized sooner or later.

Something interesting that happened this week was my second bike helmet got stolen and I saw some dude trying to pick my lock by hammering a screwdriver into the key hole but he failed and we just waited for him to leave he was a really big black dude so we didnt bother him but now the key wont fit into it so I have a permanent lock on my bike which is really annoying. So yeah Miami still is Miami luckily i havent gotten robbed yet but my companion it will happen sooner or later no matter what I just gotta make sure I dont have that much money in my wallet haha.

My spanish is still struggling but its improving! Dad if you could give me any study tips or what helped your spanish the most let me know! I am just trying to talk as much as I can in spanish which is pretty fun but also hard especially with the cubans and dominicans. Well I hope you guys have fun in Mexico and that Sarah will have fun partying every night in the house while you guys are gone!

november 9, 2015 pics

After a super long day of biking, rain, popped tires, beer thrown at us and we still got it baby!

November 9, 2015 No more car and helmet stolen but life is good

Hola querida familia! Como esta? The mission is still going good! The weather is perfect not too hot or too cold and the rain aint that bad. Thanks for all the exercises! I am gonna try them all out but yeah you can only send videos of like family events and stuff soooo you should send me some! But guess what they took our car so now I dont have to worry about the president taking my license haha. They took our car because another missionary got hit by a car and he has some heart problems so they have to go to the hospital quite a bit so they need the car more than us. But its fine biking is super fun! My helmet got stolen someone flippin cut the straps off the lock and just took the helmet part and left the straps but I got another one that looks more crappy so nobody will steal it. Hopefully my bike doesnt get stolen but all of the other missionaries told me it will happen no matter what. But yeah thats miami baby but I love it!

Yeah last saturday we ate at a sports grill and we saw all the highlights and top 10 plays of college football and they were crazy!!!  All we get to watch during the week is soccer at peoples houses nobody likes football its lame. I heard the Jazz have a decent team this year though and have a chance to make the playoffs that would be really cool. We are teaching a family of 5 and they have 2 sons 17 and 15 and they are the BIGGEST nba fans I have ever met. When I asked if they knew Jimmer they immediately replied yes and told me that he is in the D-League now haha I thought that was pretty funny. We had a barbecue with them and it was super fun! They are from El Salvador and are super nice like everytime we visit them they give us a ton of food! They also all came to church and it was super fun to hang out with them and they love hearing about the gospel like if you saw them you would think they were mormon haha.

The work is going good hopefully we can get some baptisms soon! We are teaching a bunch of people that want to get baptized super bad but they wont take work off to go to church so they cant get dunked. People here work harder than hard and everybody here drinks beer and smokes so to get our baptisms its gonna take some work haha.

Well yeah nothing too exciting happened this week. My ear is a little better it still hurts but it looks alot better. I havent gone golfing yet but i am positive I will go golfing in one of the upcoming P-days. I haven't seen Dan yet because hes in the english ward but he lives really close to me so I probably will see him sometime.

Alright well thanks for everything! I hope life is good in Utah and I hope the dogs are doing okay. Send me a pic of the new car too! Well i gtg we are going to Calle Ocho apparently its pretty famous but I know nuthin about it haha you guys can look it up. Well peace out fam

PICS FROM NOVEMBER 2, 2015

NOVEMBER 2, 2015- CARVING PUMPKINS, UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, DRIVING AND EAR PROBLEMS!

Wassup family! Thanks for your emails! Thats pretty cool you guys got a new car! Its probably a good thing you bought it with me or else it would probably be broken by now haha. We have a pretty nice car here though! We get to use the car every other day and then we ride our bikes on the days when we dont have the car. Althoooooough I have already gotten 3 aggressive driving warnings! The mission cars have a sensor in them that measure rpms, sharp turns, slamming on brakes and speed. I have gotten a warning on rpms, sharp turn, and speed so far. The mission president called me and told me if I get one more hes gonna take away my privilege to drive which is super dumb but hopefully I can not get another one for the rest of these 700 days or so. Biking is rough out here! We bike an average of 30 to 40 miles a day and I am always suuuper tired after bike days.

Dang it sounds like the hunting season is going crazy good!! I miss it quite a bit and I hope it is still good when I get back! And hopefully Sonny and Shadow will still be there also. Oh yeah and who won americas got talent? haha just curious

Well I had to go to the hospital last week cuz I had an infected abscess in my ear!! It made my whole ear puff up and hurt suuuuper bad but the Doctor drained it and gave me some medicine and it felt better like immediately. I didnt have my insurance card though so I am just gonna send all the stuff they give me to you guys and hopefully my insurance can cover it. But other than that this week has been beast!

Halloween was super fun! We got to carve pumpkins and it was a good time. I suck at carving pumpkins but it was still fun. I will send you guys some pics fo sho. We also have an investigator that is a student at Miami! We got to go to the campus and it was really awesome. There were a few cute girls there too (okay maybe alot hehe) but I overcame every temptation! He is a super cool kid his name is Connor and he was super interested in us because his values are the same as ours. Miami is a HUGE party school and he is not a fan of it. He wants to transfer to BYU but wants to learn about us mormons first so it was really cool to talk with him.

Well nothing super crazy has happened this week. On the 14th however we should baptize a few people which I am super excited for! Its really tough to teach families here because nobody is married! Latins apparently dont believe in getting married so every family that we are teaching we are trying to plan a wedding for which takes alot of time and its really tough.

I am starting to gain some weight here though! We eat sooooo much food here! Its mostly all rice and beans and balseadas and I love it already. I also have some protein and I drink a protein shake every day and thats helping too. But we have no weights so working out can get kinduv boring. You should send me some exercises that I can do without weights that well help me get some muscle! I have been mainly doing pushups and its getting boring. Oh and send me a flashdrive or 2 por favor I dont have any and we cant buy them anywhere cuz there are no stores here! My address is 220 nw (WRONG ADDRESS MARK).

Alright thanks fam for everything! I love reading your guys emails and I cant wait for christmas!! - Con Mucho Amor, Elder Spencer

Tengo muchas experiencias aqui que recordare para siempre! 1st address in Miami! 5291 nw 1st street, Miami, Florida 33126.

Que tal familia! He disfratado todos los dias aqui en Florida! Tengo muchas experiencias aqui que recordare para siempre! My spanish has gotten alot better and so has my understanding of people here! Its still a bit difficult though because we meet people from everywhere every single day! We knocked into a family a couple days ago and they all only spoke chinese except for the daughter who was 12!! It should be fun teaching them haha. The address to our house is 5291 nw 1st street, Miami, Florida 33126. That's cool your looking to buy a new car! Here in Miami Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Jagaurs, Corvettes, Rolls Royces and like every other type of car are insanely popular here its crazy! I need to start taking my camera everywhere I go so I can get some pics and show you guys. Well sounds like everything is going pretty good down in Utah! I bet Sarah loves Sky View its soooo much better than North Trash. My advice to Sarah is to make as many memories as she can that she will remember forever! But yeah you guys gotta send me some halloween pics! I dont think we are doing anything for halloween here but it is a mission so I can understand it haha.
Well Florida is flippin awesome so far! Elder Gamez and I are still going strong in the work and we have met a bunch of people and have made tons of friends and I cant wait to baptize dem! I will keep ya updated on dem! We still haven't knocked on or met a person here that only speaks english which is amazing it just gives you guys an idea how spanishy it is down here. Buuuuut my bishop here told me that Daniel Heath and his Wife live super close to me!! I hope i can see him here and maybe even go golfing with him! We can go golfing on P- Days if we are with a member so yeah that would be dope if I got to go golfing with him here. But yeah last P-Day we went to the Graffiti Art District and it was suuuuuuper cool I will send you guys some pics!
Well this last week has been super cool! I got to give a couple priesthood blessings and it was really cool! We knocked into a guy from the Panama who got into a car accident and his leg got cut in half and he was really big into cycling so he was super bummed out but we gave him a blessing and he really liked it. I also gave a priesthood blessing to a lady who was preparing for surgery to get her knee replaced for the 3rd time and she was like really emotional and cried alot but she was really grateful for my blessing and then fed us some super good food.
I also got to go on an exchange last week with Elder Anderson whose from Bountiful Utah. It was suuuuper cool. We taught some dude from the Martial Islands named Stanny and we taught him the law of chastity and told him he would have to get married to be baptized and when he heard this he immediatly wanted to get married which was a miracle. He spoke very little english but he could understand us which was also amazing. So after that lesson we then started preparing his wedding and baptism which is this week! I cant go though cuz hes not in our area which is lame but at least i helped him out a bit.
Well the mission is super fun and im loving it! I will send you guys some pics and hopefully some more awesomer stuff will happen this week.

1st Pics from FLORIDA! Trainer is Elder Gamez-Cruz

Week 6 & 7 FLORIDA BOUND! 1st EMAIL in the field!

Waaasssuuuup! Well Florida is a heck of alot better than Mexico! The plane ride here was super cool too i just talked to a girl who was my age from mexico who didnt speak any english but we talked like the whole plane ride and it was super sweet. But when we arrived here i got to meet alot of the other missionaries here and they are all super cool and chill. My companion is suuuuuuuper awesome! His name is Zeniff Daniel Gamez Cruz and hes from Utah too but raised in Mexico so Spanish is his first language so that should help me learn spanish faster. The people here in Miami are super awesome too! Everyone here is from a different country its unreal! The first lesson that we taught was to a woman from Peru. Then the next one was to a guy from Colombia. And then it was to a guy from Honduras. And a whole bunch of a other countries like Cuba, Guatemala, Costa Rica, we have met people already from everywhere. But whats really hard is that they all speak wayyyyy different its unreal. LIke cubans speak super fast and never say their s's so i cant understand them at all and it is pretty hard for my companion to understand them too. But yeah this first week was awesome! We found a family of 4 our first day and they are progressing and i really hope we can baptize them like if this family was my first baptism it would be so cool. They are from Honduras and their names are Ana and Juliano so yeah hopefully we can do it.

The house we are staying at is pretty nice. Its pretty big and we live with 2 other missionaries. They are pretty dope too. Going to church this Sunday was super fun too! I met the bishop and a bunch of members and we had 1 investigator come with us his name is Bryant and he is 15 years old and he is super cool. He wants to get baptized but his parents are really against it so we are gonna talk with him this week sometime and try to get a baptism date fo him.

The part of the city that we are at is seriously third world. Everything is in spanish! I have yet to talk to someone here that speaks somewhat good english. Pure Latinos here. All the restaurants are like restaurants you would see in costa rica except for the fast food restaurants. One of my favorite foods here is Baleadas. Its a hondurian dish and we have eaten it like a bunch already and it is suuuper rico. When we ate at some peruvians house they served us some weird food like raw fish in soup but it was good, dont know the name of it.

We have a car and get to use it every other day which is nice. My companion doesnt have a license so I have to drive everywhere which is kinduv scary cuz the drivers here are insane but so far so good. But yeah thanks for all them packages! Dont worry about sending more stuff i can pretty much get everything i need here. Well im runnin out of time but thanks for all your emails! Keep me updated on like college football and basketball there is nothing here where we can stay updated haha. Im gonna miss alot of stuff while im out here. ight well i gots to go later familila!

Week 5 General Conference and Orson Spencer

Hola Familia! Nothing really cool happened this week but thanks for all your pics and vids! I cant wait to go hunting when i get back. I hope Sky View wins state! That is crazy they are doing this well. I heard the utes are killing it too football which surprised me cuz utah state almost beat them! haha But yeah General Conference was great! Did you catch that Henry B. Eyring mentioned Orson Spencer in his talk during priesthood? I bet it is the one we are related too which is really cool. I cant wait to leave this place in a week tho! Next time I write you guys I will be in Florida somewhere! Thanks for your packages too! If you could send one more with a bunch of snacks that would be great  cuz the store here is being renovated right now which sucks. But yeah all we did basically this week was study spanish and watch some general conference. This place is starting to get pretty boring cuz everyone left last week too theres hardly anyone here. Oh and I left my patriarchal blessing at my house so if you could send it to Florida that would be great too i think it is in the cuboard in front of my bed somewhere idk but if you could find it and send it soon i would be very grateful haha. Well i got some pics for you guys too so i will upload them and send them!

Week 4 Buena Experiencia with a recent convert

Hola familia! No siento enfermo ahora lo cual es bueno. Yo necesitaba
para ir al medico pero encontraron nothing serious haha. Mi espanol no
es perfecto pero es mas facil enseñar en español. That sucks you got
an infection but im suprised you dont get more from working in the ER
haha. Yeah im super jealous i couldnt go to that concert but i bet
they will still be touring when i get back unlike Angels and Airwaves!
Oh well not listening to music isnt super bad i can still remember all
my favorite songs in my head haha but when the day comes that i forget
them thats gonna suck. I hope you have fun hunting! Make sure you
update me on shadow and sonnys health I hope they will still be there
when I get back!
Entonces, tuve un buena experiencia este semana! My companion and I
got to teach a recent convert of about 6 months. She took
lessons from some missionaries for a month and got baptized but she
said they both had to leave right after she got baptized. She said
ever since they left she hasnt felt the spirit even when she goes to
church so we decided to teach her about the book of mormon and read
the introduction to her (which i have memorized, well the first and
last 2 paragraphs of it). We talked about reading the book of mormon
and praying to know if it is true which surprisingly she said she had
never done. We told her that if she read the book of mormon and prayed
about we knew she would feel the spirit. Anyways she said she would do
it and we had a really good conversation even though it was super hard
to understand but we understood just enough to know her needs. So to
end the lesson we asked her to say a prayer. She said okay and started
to pray but about halfway into it she started crying like crazy. We
just let her let it all out and then when she finally finished she
said that was the first time she has felt the spirit in 6 months and
she was really grateful for us. We then had to go to dinner cuz we
were already super late but she took a picture with us and we left. I
wish i had the picture, her name was xxxxxxxxx hopefully she comes
back and i can get it. But yeah it was a cool experience. After dinner
our teacher talked with us about our lesson and told us that the woman
we taught told our teacher that she hadnt been reading the book of
mormon or praying and now she says she will do that so she can feel
spirit. It felt really good to know that i helped someone in their
life and i cant wait to help many people more! Well i dont gots more
time to email so i gotta go i will send pictures next week! Con Amor,

Week 3 -Mexico Temple and bus pics

Week 3-Got sick last Wednesday :-( Visited the Temple Tuesday :-)

¡Hola mi familia! El miercoles pasado empece a sentir enfermo. I have been pretty sick with a sore throat and stomach ache and im not really sure what to use besides ibuprofen so if you got an idea lemme know but otherwise its been great here! We got to go to the mexico city temple and do a session there which was really cool. It was completely in spanish but i understood most of it. The temple is really pretty and i have a bunch of cool pictures. But yeah me and my companion workout every day for about 45 min and its great! i got up to 140 pounds but lost it quickly when i got sick. Ive learned some pretty cool workouts here and i cant wait to show you them when i get back. Im also working on getting my vertical up and i can now duck a ping pong ball haha but yeah During gym time we usually work out for 45 min and then play for about 20  min usually volleyball or soccer or basketball. But last week we got some new people in our zone and one of them plays volley ball for stanford hes like 6´8 and he just smashes every ball so we are probably not gonna play as much volleyball now. During our studying our teacher was watching the byu game and was narrating it for us. It sucks that they lost but our teacher thinks that bronco is a terrible coach and thats why they lost haha. Yeah its hard to have spiritual experiences here in the mtc its basically all studying so i cant wait to go to the field.
Thats really cool that sky view is undefeated! Do you think they have a chance at state? I miss football quite a bit now haha but not as much as music this whole no music thing is hard. I would do anything to go to a twenty one pilots concert. I hope Doug is doing okay let him know i think hes one of the coolest guys i know!
Thanks for all the packages tho! The jerky is terrible but the donuts are good and the chocolate milks. Keep sending them! haha It really sucks being sick here especially cuz of the cold showers and terrible food oh yeah theres no hot water here which was to be expected i guess but its usually pretty hot outside so its not too bad. Alright i gots to go i will try and write more from now on im just a really slow typer haha but nothing too exciting happens at the mtc. Ight until next week! -Elder Spencer

Top Picture is Elder Spencer and his companion Elder Eric Durrant from Gilbert, AZ and picture below that is a roomie named Elder Darren Johnson who is planning on playing football for USU post mission.  Third picture down is Elder Spencer's district. Bottom picture is ?WHAT?
